About the brand

Kilian is a famous perfume brand founded in 2007. Its founder is Kilian Hennessy, a descendant of the creator of the famous Hennessy cognac house Richard Hennessy. He was introduced to perfumery by chance, but was immediately fascinated by it and realized that it was his life's work.

Kilian founded his own brand to produce perfume with the same care as in the late 19th and early 20th century, but to make the process more technologically advanced. It was always his ambition to put perfumery back on its pedestal, and he succeeded. Today, Kilian fragrances are chosen by celebrities such as Carmen Electra, Liv Tyler, Rosalie Mira, Sophie Marceau, Cher and others.

History of the Kilian brand

The brand's founder, Kilian Hennessy, belongs to a famous dynasty of cognac producers, so it's no surprise that his family heritage and childhood games in the family wine cellars had a significant influence on his career as a perfumer. Kilian first discovered the world of perfumery during an internship at Kenzo Perfumes at the end of his 4th year at CELSA, where he studied marketing, and made his final choice of profession in his final year of college, while writing his final paper on perfume advertising. In order to better understand what he would write about, Kilian went to the so-called school of smell, where he immediately became fascinated by the art of perfumery and determined his vocation.

After graduation, Kilian Hennessy turned down an apprenticeship in the family business and decided to follow his own path. For 11 years he worked for the most prestigious perfume houses such as Christian Dior, Paco Rabanne, Alexander McOueen and Giorgio Armani. In these large companies he was not satisfied with the fact that it was impossible to work independently and make decisions alone, so during that period he did not produce a single perfume of which he could be fully proud. As a result, in 2007 he created his own perfume brand Kilian, which quickly took its rightful place in the fine perfume market.

It took 12 years to create one of Kilian's most famous fragrances, Angels' Share. This perfume combines the aromas of cognac and oak wood with notes of sandalwood and vanilla. When creating this fragrance, Kilian Hennessy recalled the smell of his family's cognac cellars - la part des anges, which means "the share of angels" in French. La part des anges is part of the distillation process, during which some distilled spirits are evaporated. Cognac producers refer to the vaporized spirit as "the share of angels". It is the associations with family that make this fragrance one of the famous perfumer's most personal creations.
